Artist | actress | theatre maker
Conceptual fine art photographer Louise Alexander originally hails from the UK but has been living in Australia since 2019. Her surreal and dramatic images are informed by literature, myth and folk tale and are fueled by her 16 year long career as an actress and theatre maker. Louise believes all forms of storytelling are a unifying and universal language enabling our understanding of what it is to be human. Currently Louise is exploring themes of transformation, equality, human behaviour and emotion.
In 2020 Louise won the Emergent Designs award for the Mullins Australian Conceptual Photography Prize with 'Beige Chair'. Also in 2020 'Little Mermaid' won the Mandjar Art Award. Louise has exhibited work across Australia and in her home country over the last 5 years.
When not creating images Louise works as an actress on stage, tv and in film. She has recently filmed her first short in Australia and is looking forward to more to come.
